Busy Bees Gardening Club

Busy Bees Gardening Club

The Busy Bees Gardening Club is designed for children up to the ages of 10-12 who are interested or curious about gardening, nature, the environment, butterflies and pollinators, the outdoors.
It is designed to get students outside and let them experience gardening and nature first hand.
The program has 3 options.  Registration for the programs is required and will be conducted in the spring before school is dismissed for the summer.  At this time, the program is a summer program.
Students may be registered for 1 or 2 options of the program.
The options include  Garden Activities, Children's Garden or the Plots for Students program

Garden Activities

All ages are welcome.
Participants will enjoy fun activities related to gardening.  These activities may include a storytime, art and crafts activities, scavenger hunts, garden tours, games, etc.

Children's Garden

Children will learn the basics of gardening, it's importance and it's responsibilities.  They will learn how to plant a seed or a seedling, mulch a garden, weed, and harvest.  They will be given opportunities to pick fruit and veggies from the garden as it ripens.
Children participating in this part of the program will have the added responsibility of checking their row or rows of planted veggies on a regular basis to check for weeds and watering.  That regular basis may be every few days or weekly depending on the plants that they have planted.
Mentors will be available to help the students.

Parent Responsibilities

Children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Parents or guardians are encouraged to participate along with their children.
