Garden Plots
A Place to Garden and to Gather

Registration Now Open for 2021 Gardening Season

Garden plots are available for rent to anyone in the River Valley School District for the purpose of growing produce and/or ornamental plants for non-commercial purposes.  Families, individuals, civic organizations, boy and girl scouts, 4-H members, church groups, and teenagers are encouraged to garden

Low income families or individuals are eligible for free plots or scholarships. Also people who are unemployed and / or dealing with food shortages due to Covid 19 are also eligible for free plots.

To encourage gardening by youth, plots are free for students in the River Valley School District.
Because the garden is situated on 2 ½ acres there is plenty of room for expansion.

Our plot configuration is flexible according to the size of plots gardeners want and the number of gardeners
      20 x 20 = 400 sq.ft.  rent for $40 each plot     2021 discount for new gardeners  $30
      10 x 20 = 200 sq. ft.  rent for $25 each plot     2021 discount for new gardeners  $20
      10 x 10  = 100 sq. ft.   rent for $15 each plot     2021 discount for new gardeners  $10
Free plots available for family units that qualify

The Registration Fee includes marsh hay mulch, water, use of a tiller, wagon, tools as needed, and storage space in the Gardener’s Shed.  Returning gardeners may retain their plots from year to year.

Please note annual allotment fees may be adjusted as deemed necessary by the Board of Directors prior to the opening of the registration period.

All new and returning gardeners are expected to attend the spring Registration meeting scheduled in May prior to the Garden opening.  The agenda for the meeting includes reviewing the Garden Guidelines, signing the Gardening Agreement and paying fees, if they are not pre-paid.  Free seeds may also be available for Community Gardeners.

Registration for garden plots is open until June 15.  Gardeners registering after the orientation meeting in May are required to meet with the Registrar to review policies and sign the gardening agreement.
