Garden plots are available for rent to anyone living in the River Valley School District for the purpose of growing produce and/or ornamental plants for non-commercial purposes.  Families, individuals, civic organizations, boy and girl scouts, 4-H members, church groups, and teenagers are encouraged to garden

Low income families or individuals are eligible for free plots or scholarships. Also people who are unemployed and / or dealing with food shortages.

To encourage gardening by youth, plots are free for students in the River Valley School District.
The Garden has expanded greatly over the last couple of years.  Garden plots are limited.

Our plot configuration is flexible according to the size of plots gardeners want and the number of gardeners.
The fee schedule for 2025 is
      20 x 20 = 400 sq.ft.  rent for $60 each plot
      10 x 20 = 200 sq. ft.  rent for $40 each plot
      10 x 10  = 100 sq. ft.   rent for $20 each plot
      2 ft x 8 ft raised box rents for $10   (4 boxes for $40)
Free plots available for families that qualify

The Registration Fee includes straw/marsh hay mulch, water, use of a tiller, wagon, tools as needed, and storage space in the Gardener’s Shed.  Returning gardeners may retain their plots from year to year.

Please note annual fees may be adjusted as deemed necessary by the Board of Directors prior to the opening of the registration period.

All new and returning gardeners are expected to attend the spring Pre Season meeting scheduled in late April / early May prior to the Garden opening.  The agenda for the meeting includes reviewing the Garden Guidelines, signing the Gardening Agreement and paying fees, if they are not pre-paid.  Free seeds may also be available for Community Gardeners.

Registration for garden plots is open until June 15.  Gardeners registering after the Pre Season meeting are required to meet with the Registrar to review policies and sign the gardening agreement.

Registration for returning gardeners is held prior to October 1 of the current gardening season.

Registration forms for the coming year for new gardeners will be available after October 1.  Interested persons may place their names on the Wait List by emailing us at [email protected] .
