Enabling or Adaptive Gardening

At the October 10, 2020 RVACG Board meeting, Amber and Cait presented a proposal for barrier free or enabled gardening.  The Board decided to develop a demonstration garden highlighting alternative gardening techniques for people who have limited mobility, physical limitations, mental challenges, and other issues that prohibit traditional inground gardening.

The demonstration plot had various ways of doing container and raised bed gardening with easy to find, free containers plus some constructed raised beds.   The demonstration plot was successfully used by a gentleman with back issues during the 2021 season.  .

People who might be interested in having their own raised beds in one of our garden plots should contact us so that we may plan a plot specifically for your needs

Fast forward to 2023.  The RVACG has developed a plan to provide for raised bed gardening for people who are in need of accomodations to continue gardening.  Please contact us for more information if you would like to join us
