The 2021 Spring Registration is currently underway. Opening day for the Gardens is set for May 8.
The 2021 Pre-Season Meeting will take a variety of forms due to Covid 19 protocols. Currently small group meetings are being planned at the Gardens for Friday May 7 at 1 pm and at 6 pm and on Saturday May 8 at 10 am or private individual meetings may be scheduled. Gardeners will be contacted to schedule times.
The Pre-Season Meeting is held the Saturday before the gardening season opens and serves as a time to explain garden expectations, collect plot fees, assign plots, and meet other gardeners. If weather conditions are favorable a tour of the Garden will be offered and Gardeners may start preparing and planting in their plots immediately after the meeting.
At the 2021 Pre-Season Meetings, we will demonstrate how to plant a garden. The public is invited to these demonstrations but must register so that we can follow Covid 19 protocols of group limitations.
Our annual Open House provides an opportunity for the public to visit the Community Garden site and meet with the RVACG Board of Directors and Gardeners. Notice of the event is placed in The Home News and on our Facebook page.
The public is encouraged and invited to stroll through the Gardens at anytime.
The Harvest Potluck is an opportunity for the Gardeners, their families and those who have helped the RVACG throughout the year to celebrate a successful gardening season. Attendees bring a dish to pass and enjoy a time to share their garden stories and evaluate their gardening experiences. It is usually held in late September or October.
The 2021 Harvest Potluck is currently scheduled for Saturday Sept. 18 @ 4 pm, possibly at the Gardens, weather permitting and contingent on Covid 19 protocols.
